Bear Chose A New Path
Bear on a Plinth With A Duck 200
23cm x 10cm x 10cm
Part of the Ballad of Backwards and Forwards collection
Bear was strong and large. His structure bought a reverence and he roared loud and deep. Maggie swam around him and Bear was hypnotised by the ducks agility and playful dance. Maggie taught him some moves and Bear found he was beautifully light on his paws. He embraced dance, taking to it like a duck to water.
The bear is a discarded toy, the duck is ceramic with a jewelled headpiece. The base is wooden, covered with decoupage from hand cut recycled paper images. All materials are recycled, collected and found, deconstructed and reassembled to tell a new story and have a refreshed purpose.
They are embellished with collected feathers, textiles, jewellery, dried flower components and beads. I have also dressed them with decoupage, paint and foil leaf. They have vintage Indian textiles and painted claws.
Bear greeting cards are also available in my shop.
All my pieces are individual and one-off - as I only work with recycled and reclaimed objects I never know what I am going to find. If you are looking for something particular, please ask - and I'll start looking!
